HaseMed Ultraschallgel
Buying Guide: Diagnostic & Medical Supplies
Choosing the right diagnostic supplies directly impacts the quality of your clinical work. Whether in a medical practice, hospital, or physiotherapy setting, high-quality consumables ensure reliable results and smooth daily operations.
Ultrasound Gel: What to Look For
Ultrasound gel is an essential coupling medium for sonography. It ensures bubble-free contact between the transducer and skin, enabling optimal image quality. HaseMed ultrasound gel is hypoallergenic, colourless, and rinses off without residue. It is available in multiple sizes — from a convenient 250 ml bottle for mobile use to a 5-litre container for high-volume clinical settings.
- 250 ml: Ideal for house calls, mobile diagnostics, and occasional practice use.
- 500 ml / 1,000 ml: The standard sizes for daily practice with multiple scans per day.
- 5,000 ml: Cost-effective for hospitals and large practices with high consumption.
When purchasing, ensure the gel is dermatologically tested and paraben-free. HaseMed ultrasound gel meets these requirements and is suitable for both abdominal and musculoskeletal sonography.
Electrode Spray and Conductive Media
For ECG leads, EMG examinations, and electrotherapy, reliable skin contact is crucial. Electrode spray reduces the impedance between electrode and skin, improving signal quality. HaseMed electrode spray does not dry out, is skin-friendly, and removes easily.
Tourniquets
A good tourniquet must build controlled venous pressure without causing patient discomfort. Latex-free models are now standard to prevent allergic reactions. Look for an easy-to-use one-hand release mechanism for quick application and removal — especially important in busy clinical environments.
Reaction Vessels (Eppendorf Tubes)
For laboratory diagnostics you need reaction vessels with precise volume calibration and a secure snap cap. HaseMed reaction vessels are autoclavable, RNase- and DNase-free, and suitable for centrifugation as well as PCR applications.
Usage Tips & Care Instructions
Proper handling of diagnostic supplies extends product life and ensures consistently high examination quality. Here are practical tips for everyday use in your practice or clinic.
Applying Ultrasound Gel Correctly
Apply the gel evenly and in sufficient quantity to the area being examined. Avoid air bubbles in the gel, as these can cause artefacts in the ultrasound image. After the examination, HaseMed ultrasound gel can simply be removed with a dry cloth or cellulose swab.
- Storage: Store ultrasound gel at room temperature (15–25 °C). Avoid direct sunlight and frost.
- Opened bottles: Use within 6 months after opening. Dosing pumps facilitate hygienic dispensing.
- Transducer care: Clean the ultrasound transducer after each use with an appropriate disinfectant wipe.
Using Electrode Spray Effectively
Spray the electrode spray from approximately 10–15 cm distance onto the skin before placing the electrode. Allow the spray to set briefly for optimal conductivity. Shaving hairy areas before application can improve signal quality.
Tourniquet: Hygiene and Maintenance
Clean tourniquets after each patient with an alcohol-based disinfectant wipe. HaseMed latex-free tourniquets can also be machine-washed at 40 °C. Regularly check the release mechanism for proper function and replace the tourniquet if material fatigue becomes visible.
Storing Reaction Vessels Properly
Store unused reaction vessels in a dust-free, dry environment. Autoclave at 121 °C for 15 minutes when sterility is required. Use solvent-resistant lab markers for labelling to ensure reliable sample identification.
Expert Knowledge: Standards & Quality
Medical diagnostic supplies are subject to strict European and national regulations. Understanding the relevant standards helps you select compliant products and meet quality requirements in your facility.
EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR 2017/745)
Since May 2021, the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) has been the binding legal framework for all medical devices in the European Economic Area. Ultrasound gel and electrode spray fall under this regulation as medical device accessories and must bear a CE marking. HaseMed products comply with MDR requirements and are certified for professional medical use.
DIN EN ISO 13485: Quality Management
DIN EN ISO 13485 defines quality management system requirements specifically for manufacturers and distributors of medical devices. It covers the entire value chain — from development through production to distribution and post-market surveillance. As a buyer, you should ensure that your suppliers are certified to this standard.
TRBA 250: Biological Agents in Healthcare
The Technical Rule for Biological Agents (TRBA 250) governs the handling of potentially infectious material in medical facilities. For diagnostic supplies, this means:
- Tourniquets: Must be disinfected after each patient. Single-use tourniquets are an alternative for high-risk patients.
- Contaminated materials: Used ultrasound gel and disposables must be treated as potentially contaminated and disposed of in accordance with TRBA 250.
- Personal protective equipment: Wearing disposable gloves is mandatory when handling blood-draw accessories.
Medical Device Classification
Ultrasound gel is generally classified as a Class I medical device, as it has no direct therapeutic effect but supports the function of a medical device as an accessory. Tourniquets also fall into Class I. Reaction vessels for in-vitro diagnostics are subject to the separate IVDR (Regulation (EU) 2017/746).
